On 10th June 2022 at Bhubaneswar: A gynaecological surgery was conducted on Da Vinci robotic platform by Dr GSS Mohapatra at Apollo Hospitals in Odisha capital. This is the state’s first ever gynaecological robotic surgery performed successfully.
The da Vinci robotic surgery was performed jointly by senior consultant Dr GSS Mohapatra,, Apollo Hospitals and Dr Rooma Sinha, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) Department of the hospital on Friday.
Dr GSS Mohapatra said gynecological surgery has evolved rapidly in the last few decades. Starting from open surgery, it moved on to laparoscopic surgery which continued for three decades. Key hole incisions, less operative time, less blood loss and faster recovery became the game changer in the whole process of treatment.
